The MC Squared Community Roundtable on 12th May brought together Operational Risk Leaders to discuss the impact of AI on their firms' risk profiles and how they are responding.

Our key takeaways:

1. Everyone is firmly on the AI journey. But don't believe everything you read on LinkedIn; you probably aren't as far behind as you thought

2. AI may bring new threats but it's ability to accelerate and amplify existing risks presents the real near-term danger

3. Sourcing and managing combined risk & tech talent is critical and will be increasingly difficult as AI adoption evolves and headcount challenges bite

4. Frameworks and governance models are running to keep up - delivering this change at pace is becoming BAU

5. Use cases exist for AI as a risk management enabler, but the technology isn't yet being fully exploited

6. Benefit realisation is hindered by layering AI solutions over legacy processes and data, and neglecting proper change management discipline
